Editor's note: The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will take place in Beijing on May 14-15. Here we take a look at the many firsts achieved after the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013.

It took the train packed with commodities of European countries 19 days to cover 12,451 kilometers from London to the eastern coastal city of Yiwu.
