I wish to take the opportunity to commend President Xi for the bold and visionary Belt and Road Initiative. It has already, since its launch in 2013, made very important progress. And I'm happy that the World Health Organization is part of the initiative, working with China and the countries along the Belt and Road corridor and all the partners to build a healthy Silk Road.

We are truly encouraged by China's commitment to global health expressed by the Belt and Road Initiative, and appreciate the principles of co-consultation, co-construction and sharing.
