Ruan Lingyu

Born in Shanghai on April 26, 1910, Ruan was one of the most well-known actresses in her time. She starred in about 30 films. Being brought up in a poor family, she started her career at 16.

There a series of novels, dramas and films based on her story. In 1992, Maggie Cheung played the actress in a film named Ruan Lingyu.
