Future Host: A Speech Opera

Future Host is an epithet commonly bestowed to children in officially socialist countries. They are the agent, product, and site of a speculative future, for which they must always be ready - a command of absolute urgency and ecstatic optimism. The future is here. Future Host keeps stumbling into the present via an involuntary inheritance of the past. Inspired by Karlheinz Stockhausen's Gesang der Junglinge, Future Host: A Speech Opera features a multichannel sound installation composed of vocal recordings, and live improvisational music by a children's marching band. The physical absence of actors enhances the irreducible presence and immediacy of human timbre.

Capricious Structure

The universe is an endless hoax, in which everything is perpetually mutating. In the creation of art, medium can be regarded as a tool, which allows for the unconventional transmutation of materials that lies beyond the naked eye. It is imbued with potentials to probe behind appearance and shatter pre-established frameworks. The exhibition Capricious Structure features independent projects by four young artists from both China and abroad, including Andrew Luk (Hong Kong), Brendan Fowler (Los Angeles), Wu Juehui (Hangzhou), and Shen Xin (London/Amsterdam). The works presented reflect on the mutual intervention between the artificial and the natural, the interstices of interior and exterior, and the fictionality of video, all contesting the capricious nature of medium.

That Physics Show in Shanghai

Lifetime professional physics demonstrator David Maiullo brings his scientific "magic" from the world of physics to the off-Broadway stage in That Physics Show. Based on the hundreds of physics experiments that are presented at physics conferences and in classrooms across the country, That Physics Show features segments on motion, momentum, vacuum, friction, energy, density, fluid motion, sound waves and sound vibration, light waves, temperature and much more from the incredible world: a world controlled by physics.

The Royal Concept China Tour 2018

First attracting worldwide attention with a self-produced hit "D-D-Dance" - which introduced their Phoenix-like mix of sunny pop and electronic elements - Stockholm's indie dance-rockers the Royal Concept feature vocalist/guitarist David Larson, guitarist Filip Bekic, bassist Magnus Robert, and drummer Frans Povel. Early in 2012, the band - who settled on their moniker that April - signed to Lava Records, which released the group's self-titled debut EP that June. Their 2013 debut album, Goldrushed, featured the hit single "On Our Way," which gained exposure on the soundtrack to FIFA 14, as well as on TV shows such as Glee and Catfish. Produced by Tony Hoffer (who previously worked with acts such as M83, the Kooks, and Depeche Mode) and released in 2015, the Smile EP saw the group take a glam-inspired change of direction.

The Garden China Tour 2018 in Beijing

Once again leaving genre boundaries in the dust, The Garden twins return with 'Mirror Might Steal Your Charm,' available now via Epitaph Records. Taking the audience away into a still unfathomed sound world and bringing back some of the scuzzier elements of their earlier work, the duo's more guitar focused third album is another sublime slice of postmodern pop. Welcome back to a land that's familiar, slightly out of sync, and a little bit unnerving. The Garden strip off everything unnecessary about modern punk and get straight to the heart of it, consistently defying categorization and breaking new ground with their own 'Vada Vada' philosophy, an idea that represents pure creative expression, disregarding all previously made genres and ideals. This is outsider music made from the inside, and when the multitude of sounds collide at pace, the results are spectacular.

Slowdive China Tour 2018 in Beijing

School-friends Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell formed Slowdive in October 1989, the name, Slowdive, coming from a dream Neil Halstead once had. According to an interview in Alternative Press, he dreamed of two words, Slowdive and Slowburn. At first, they were a highly derivative My Bloody Valentine/Sonic Youth clone, but even their first demo reveals a better understanding of controlled noise than most of their contemporaries. In their defence, the 'demo' was really just them recording for fun, and it wasn't until early in 1990 that the band became Slowdive proper with their own ideas. The major change was the addition of third guitarist, Christian Savill, previously of local act Eternal. The songs on the second demo show a leap forward, while previously they headed towards a climax of noise. It's this demo, passed on by another Reading act, Swervedriver, that brought Slowdive onto Creation records and became the first single, as attempts to recreate the atmosphere in a more expensive studio failed.

World Snooker Shanghai Masters 2018

World Snooker Shanghai Masters is a leading snooker tournament that represents the highest level of the world snooker events. It is also one of the most influential international sports events of China, which has been successfully held in Shanghai for 11 years since 2007. In 2018, it will come back with a brand-new format and a higher prize money. Instead of ranking events, 24 players will compete in an invitational this year. The 24 players invited will be the top 16 snooker players in the world, four Chinese players with the highest world ranking, two recommended by Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association and two from Snooker Amateur Masters.

Shenzhen Open 2018

Date: Sept 24-30 - 3 pm

Venue: Longgang Sports Center

The Shenzhen Open is a professional tennis tournament. It is played on outdoor hard courts of the Shenzhen Longgang Tennis Center, which has 32 outdoor and indoor courts and a 4,000-seat stadium. The tournament made its debut on the WTA Tour in 2013 in Shenzhen, China. In late 2013 it was announced that Shenzhen had won the ATP Thailand Open franchise, holding its inaugural ATP tournament in September 2014. The women's tournament takes place during the first week of the year, as a warm-up event two weeks prior to the Australian Open.
