Wang: Difficulties in DPRK-US talks unavoidable

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday that difficulties cannot be avoided as the DPRK-US talks touch deep-seated problems, but the prospects were worth exploring.
China hopes that Pyongyang and Washington will remain patient, continue dialogue, meet each other half way and make unremitting efforts for the set goals, he said.
Wang made the remarks when meeting with Ri Kil-song, vice-foreign minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, who is visiting China on Thursday.
Wang said the international community is paying high attention to the summit between the leaders of DPRK and the US which just concluded.
It is unavoidable that the DPRK-US talks, which have touched the deep-seated problems, will encounter various kinds of difficulties, he said.
Wang cited an ancient Chinese saying that setbacks cannot be avoided to realize good things, but the prospects were worth expecting.
Political settlement to the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue through dialogue conforms to the common aspiration of international community including Pyongyang and Washington, he said.
China is willing to continue to play a constructive role for realizing denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and establishing a peace mechanism on the peninsula, he said.
