Suzhou Song and Dance Theater brings original dance drama to Beijing

Suzhou Song and Dance Theater performed in the capital on Jan 12 an original dance drama, titled Canal, which portrays the tradition and culture of Suzhou along the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal from Hangzhou to Beijing, which was built in the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD) about 1,400 years ago.

Premiering in March 2021, the dance drama has toured nationwide with 23 shows from March to May last year.

It was staged in the capital as part of the ongoing 22nd edition of Meet in Beijing International Arts Festival, one of the largest annual art festivals in the capital.
