Heavy rain caution in Yunnan

The Ministry of Natural Resources initiated a fourth-level response for geological disaster prevention on Tuesday, in anticipation of intense rainfall in South China over the next three days.
Cautioning that some areas in Yunnan province face a heightened risk of geological disasters, the ministry emphasized the need for the provincial natural resources department to prioritize disaster prevention and emergency response during this period.
The provincial department has been asked to promptly organize inspections and enhance monitoring and early warning systems. It has also been told to conduct consultations and assessments to facilitate proactive defense force positioning, disaster mitigation and risk management. Timely reporting of critical information is also essential, the ministry noted.
In addition, geological experts have been asked to provide technical support and guidance.
