Guizhou and Spanish universities open Confucius Institute

Guizhou University and the University of Salamanca co-launched a Confucius Institute in Spain on May 30.
Raul Sanchez Prieto, vice-rector for internationalization and cooperation of the University of Salamanca, stated that the Confucius Institute has become a platform for collaboration and exchanges between the two universities. He anticipates deepened cooperation in areas such as language learning and academic exchanges.?
Yang Wei, Party secretary of the CPC Guizhou University Committee, emphasized that this marks the first Confucius Institute from Guizhou province in Europe. It represents Guizhou University's third overseas base for international Chinese education and signifies a breakthrough in Guizhou’s opening up and advancing the Belt and Road Initiative.?
Yao Jing, Chinese Ambassador to Spain, extended congratulations on behalf of the Chinese embassy, noting that the institute embodies cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Spain.?
Founded in 1218, the University of Salamanca is Spain's oldest and Europe's fourth-oldest university, with over 800 years of history. The university comprises 10 campuses, 27 faculties, and 57 departments, with its Modern Languages department ranking 85th worldwide in the QS World University rankings.?
?The Confucius Institute received approval from the Chinese International Chinese Language Education Foundation on June 6, 2024?. ?It aims to fulfill the mission of promoting academic and educational collaboration between the two universities.?
