Journey blending music and dining comes to Shanghai

An immersive dining theater experience, The Half, is set to begin its quarterly residency at Shanghai's historic Bund on Friday, featuring a fusion of fine dining and performing arts.
Produced by the 1862 Theater in partnership with Season On Stage, the production transforms the historic building into a theatrical venue where the boundary between stage and dining room is blurred.
This resident production aims to offer a new experience within Shanghai's entertainment landscape, with performances staged in the venue's dining space where actors move freely among the visitors.
The narrative follows the adventures of Bella, the protagonist, on a musical journey across four countries: France, Egypt, the United States, and China. The international cast delivers performances that blend tableside theater, dance, and interactive elements, with the audience becoming part of the story.
Bella's musical journey of self-discovery progresses through diverse cultural encounters, from Parisian cabarets to ancient Egyptian ceremonies, from Broadway's bright lights to Shanghai's old times. The performance space, set under the building's historic dome, creates an atmosphere that bridges past and present.
The show also features a specially curated dining experience, including four signature cocktails themed to reflect a destination on Bella's journey.
