The highly anticipated 2025 Shanghai Marathon is set to kick off on Nov 30 at the Bund Bull in Huangpu district. Registration starts on July 1.

The event comprises three categories: full marathon, mini marathon, and wheelchair marathon. The full marathon allows up to 23,000 participants, while the mini marathon allows up to 15,000. The wheelchair event will start at 6:45 am, followed by the full marathon and mini marathon at 7 am.

In a bid to enhance the registration experience for global participants, the Shanghai Marathon has introduced two significant enhancements:

• Updated registration system: The Shanghai Marathon app and official website have undergone a comprehensive overhaul, streamlining the registration process for runners. Previous participants are advised to log in to update their personal information, email, phone number, and emergency contacts.
• Improved registration mechanism: To accommodate the diverse needs of participants, Shangma Charity runners' registration slots have been staggered with those for general runners. The pre-registration period for general runners has been extended to one month. Additionally, a registration window has been established to support runners who wish to contribute to charitable causes.

• General registration: Pre-registration is open from July 1 to 31 via the Shanghai Marathon website or app. Draw results will be announced on August 25, with payment due by 3 pm on Sept 10.
• Guaranteed entry registration: Qualified runners can register from July 1 to July 31, securing their spots upon payment. Runners holding direct entry spots include the top 200 finishers for the 2025 Shanghai Women's Half Marathon, the top 150 men and top 100 women for the 2025 Shanghai Suzhou Creek Half Marathon, and the top 200 men and top 100 women for the 2025 Shanghai Half Marathon.
• Shangma Charity entry registration: Charity entry registration opens on Sept 1 at 10 am, with 1,000 slots available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Note: No public registration is required for the wheelchair marathon.
