The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the world's first long-distance dual eight-lane underwater tunnel, has seen a total traffic volume exceeding 31.55 million vehicles since opening last year, according to local transportation authorities.
The project began service on June 30, 2024. It plays a pioneering role in promoting the efficient integration and development of the eastern and western banks of the Pearl River Estuary and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The daily average traffic volume also reached 86,400 vehicles, accounting for about one-fifth of the total daily cross-river traffic at the Pearl River Estuary.
