The 2025 Pingtan International Racing Carnival launched on June 28 at the Ruyi Lake Circuit in Pingtan Island, Fujian.
The carnival capped off a thrilling weekend of motorsports that attracted over 60 international competitors and reinforced Pingtan's position as China's emerging racing hub.
The event featured two premier competitions: the Pingtan Macao Challenge and the SRO GT Cup, a newly introduced GT4 championship in China organized by global GT racing leader SRO Motorsports Group.
The latter's results will count towards SRO's prestigious global GT4 manufacturer rankings.
Hong Kong driver Lo Pak-yu emerged victorious in the Pingtan Macao Challenge's opening round after mastering the 10-lap street circuit.
"Pingtan's track design pushes drivers to their limits with its technical challenges," Lo said, praising the venue's world-class facilities.
This year's carnival marked another milestone in Pingtan's strategic development as a "premier sports destination".
By revitalizing urban roads to create a multi-level racing circuit, Pingtan has hosted major events including the China GT Championship, creating a thriving "racing economy" that drives tourism growth.
The event also highlighted Pingtan's deepening sports-tourism cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao under the innovative "Racing+" model.
Local authorities are currently negotiating to renew tourism agreements with Macao, while developing cross-border travel packages to attract more international competitors and visitors.
