LOS ANGELES, Nov 23 (Reuters) - World number one Tiger Woods fired a final round eight-under 64 to romp to a seven-stroke win over Phil Mickelson and his sixth PGA Grand Slam of Golf crown in Hawaii on Wednesday.

Golfer Tiger Woods reacts after a birdie on the sixth role during the first round at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf on the Poipu Bay golf course Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in Poipu Beach, Hawaii. Woods, who was fighting a stomach virus and nearly ruled out of the elite four-man 36-hole event after injuring his ankle winning the Dunlop Phoenix tournament in Japan, was in masterful form, posting a two-day total of 13-under 131 to maintain a perfect six-for-six record.

Mickelson, the PGA champion, closed with four-under 68 to finish runner-up on six-under 138 at the event at the Poipu Bay Golf Course in Kauai.

U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell of New Zealand returned a two-under 70 to take third place with one-under 143 while world number two Vijay Singh of Fiji was last after carding a three-under 69 for a final total of even par 144.

Woods began the day with a three-shot cushion over Mickelson and was never seriously threatened mixing two birdies with an eagle and a bogey on his outward nine.

The British Open and Masters champion continued to distance himself from the field with a flawless homeward stretch that included three more birdies and another eagle on the par-five 14h.

Mickelson, who carded a final round 59 to win the Grand Slam title last year, managed to stay in touch with Woods with three birdies on his first nine but saw his hopes of reeling in the world number one vanish with a double bogey five on the par-three 11th.

Tiger closing in on 6th Grand Slam title

POIPU BEACH, Hawaii - Tiger Woods wasn't about to call in sick just yet. Not with a record sixth Grand Slam title on the line. Woods overcame a stomach virus and labored to a 5-under 67 on Tuesday to take a three-stroke lead over defending champion Phil Mickelson. The exclusive two-day event for the winners of this year's majors wraps up Wednesday.
