Guangdong province is briefly named Yue, with Guangzhou as its provincial seat. Historically, Guangdong has been a booming commercial place. From Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty till the founding of the People’ s Republic China, Guangdong was all along the most economically developed province in China. Since the beginning of the 21 century, Guangdong has been restructured from an economy of primary and secondary industries to being dominated by the tertiary industry, from labor intensive production to being S&T intensive production. Home electronic appliances, plastic products, foodstuff, garment, textile, electronics and electric power, and metallurgy are pillar industries of Guangdong province.
