The Chinese yuan will rise 2 to 8 percent annually in the next five years and
the economy will score another double-digit growth in 2006, state media on Sunday
cited a study as saying.
The report, released in April with little publicity, forecast a 10 percent
expansion for the Chinese economy in 2006, maintaining the growth rate of the
past three years. First-quarter economic output was up 10.2 percent on a year
earlier.
報道中的double-digit就是“兩位數(shù)”，digit指“十個阿拉伯?dāng)?shù)字符號從0到9中的任意一個”，例如：The number 2001
contains four digits.（2001是個四位數(shù)。）由此，“兩位數(shù)增長”可以表示為a double-digit growth/ a
double-digit increase/ to increase by double digits。
另外，順便提一下動詞score（實現(xiàn)），在這里它可用動詞achieve來替換，其相應(yīng)的英文解釋是：to achieve a purpose,
especially to make a surprising gain（實現(xiàn)目標(biāo)，尤指取得令人驚奇的成果）。舉個例子，The Liberals have
scored a dramatic victory in this
election.（自由黨人在這次選舉中大獲全勝。）
