Tai'an sees tourism boom during Qingming Festival holiday

Tai'an city in East China's Shandong province saw a boom in its tourism sector over the three-day Qingming Festival holiday from April 5 to 7.

Qingming Festival is known as Tomb-Sweeping Day. It is an important occasion for Chinese people to honor their ancestors. Many also spent the three-day holiday on leisure travel.

This year the festival also coincided with the Sanyuesan festival, namely the third day of the third lunar month, which is one of the country's most famous folk festivals and is usually celebrated through a series of activities.

Tai'an city launched a series of themed tourism products to lure tourists. According to statistics from the Tai'an culture and tourism bureau, the city's 18 scenic spots welcomed a total of 771,500 tourists, generating revenue of 44.93 million yuan ($6.69 million). Six major monitored hotels received a total of 13,327 tourists, earning revenue of 2.91 million yuan.

The Mount Tai scenic area received 216,000 tourists, up 97.88 percent year-on-year. The Fusheng cultural tourism zone in Ningyang county welcomed 88,000 visitors, up 6 percent year-on-year. The Tianyi Lake scenic area received more than 76,000 tourists, up 22.5 percent year-on-year, and the Lianhua Mountain scenic area received 22,300 tourists with a year-on-year growth of 193.5 percent.

Rural tourist spots were favored by tourists. Six monitored villages, including Liyu, Wubu and Tangfang, received a total of 121,400 tourists and revenue of 4.06 million yuan.

With the promotion of study tours of Tai'an academic tourism institutions, related tour products proved popular.

During the warmth of spring all the flowers bloom. In such a beautiful season, people also go out to enjoy nature after a cold winter. Counties and rural area were not slow to hold flower-themed festivals to attract them.
