Meteor blast has higher force

A meteor that exploded over Russia Friday was larger than previously thought and more powerful too, NASA scientists say.

美國(guó)航天局(NASA)的科學(xué)家稱，15日俄羅斯上空爆炸的隕石無(wú)論是體積還是釋放的能量，都要比此前預(yù)測(cè)的大。

The 17-meter-wide rock was estimated by NASA to have a mass of 10,000 tons, The Daily Telegraph of London reported. It exploded with the power of a roughly 500-kiloton blast, 30 times greater than the Hiroshima bomb. It caused shockwaves that injured 1,200 people and damaged thousands of homes.

據(jù)英國(guó)《每日電訊報(bào)》報(bào)道，NASA的最新評(píng)估稱，這顆隕石直徑為17米，重1萬(wàn)噸，它釋放的能量相當(dāng)于約50萬(wàn)噸TNT(炸藥的爆炸力)，威力為二戰(zhàn)時(shí)廣島原子彈的30倍。隕石爆炸后產(chǎn)生的沖擊波目前已造成1200人受傷，數(shù)千座房屋受損。
