More than a dozen people were trapped when two separate landslides struck Changshi and Guowa townships in Dafang county, Guizhou province, on Thursday, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Two people were trapped in Changshi and a preliminary assessment suggests that more than 10 people in six buildings were trapped in Guowa, it added.
Rescue teams have arrived on site to conduct search and rescue operations.
The site's steep terrain and sharp incline have made rescue efforts challenging, and authorities are still trying to verify the exact number of people remaining trapped.
