Train maintenance sees innovations
Chinese railway operators have ushered in innovative breakthroughs in passenger train maintenance. The Taiyuan Railway Vehicle Depot of China Railway Taiyuan Group has developed a passenger information service system platform to ensure precise maintenance. Through integrated design, it has incorporated over 15 dispersed on-board equipment maintenance items on an EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) into four functional modules. Team leader Zhou Wengang and his colleagues have been upgrading the previous dispersed equipment maintenance platforms since early 2024, allowing for equipment-failure simulations, as well as early tests on to-be-installed components. The platform helps improve technicians' ability to raise maintenance quality and passengers' safe travel experience.
China's lottery sales skyrocket in May
China's lottery ticket sales soared 19.8 percent year-on-year to around 57 billion yuan ($7.95 billion) in May, data from the Ministry of Finance showed. The ministry credited this surge to two factors — a low comparison base in the same period last year and an increase in sports events in May.
