PLA defense college launches global social accounts

The People's Liberation Army's training institute for foreign officers has established a presence on Facebook and X, aiming to strengthen alumni interactions and deepen friendship and cooperation with relevant parties.
At a launch ceremony in Beijing last week, the International College of Defense Studies under the PLA National Defense University opened the two accounts, named "Study in National Defense University, China" (@StudyinNDUChina).
Leaders from the university, the college and China Daily attended the event and delivered speeches, collectively witnessing the launch.
Co-built by the military college and China Daily, the nation's official English-language news outlet, the accounts represent "another window for the PLA to engage with the world" and "a landmark in NDU's open-door education policy," according to a senior officer at the college.
The officer said the move holds strategic significance for enhancing the international influence of the PLA and its educational institutes, promoting international military cooperation, and strengthening alumni connections.
A China Daily representative said the accounts will serve as new channels to articulate China's defense perspectives, facilitate mutual learning among nations, and provide authoritative, authentic content about the Chinese armed forces.
A bilingual promotional video titled "Bonds of Peace" was also premiered at the event.
College officers said the accounts will feature regular updates on teaching programs, international exchanges, student life and China's defense policies, aiming to present a comprehensive, vivid and open image of the Chinese military to the world.
