Ten percent of Chinese live below international poverty line.

Around 48 million Chinese live below China's domesticpoverty line, accounting for 3.7 % of the total population. Based on international standards, 135 million Chinese live below the general poverty line, or 10% of the population.
The numbers come from the "Report of the Development of an Overall Well-off Society (2006)," China's first blue book to be published on building an overall well off society, Beijing Evening News reports.
The report reveals there are 26 million needy people in China's countryside. Another 22 million living in cities subsist belowminimum subsistence levels, or the poverty line. These 48 million people account for 3.7% of the total population in China.
According to international standards, however, the needy refer to those whose personal daily expenses average below $1.
The World Bank estimates about 135 million of Chinese live below the international poverty line. These people are the key group China should show concern for in building an overall well-off society.

中國(guó)約有4800萬(wàn)人口生活在國(guó)內(nèi)貧困線以下，占全國(guó)人口總數(shù)的3.7％；而按照國(guó)際標(biāo)準(zhǔn)計(jì)算，目前全國(guó)有1億3千5百萬(wàn)人口處于貧困線以下，相當(dāng)于總?cè)丝诘?0％。
據(jù)北京晚報(bào)報(bào)道，這組數(shù)據(jù)出自即將出版的《中國(guó)全面小康發(fā)展報(bào)告（2006）》，這是我國(guó)首部有關(guān)建設(shè)全面小康社會(huì)的藍(lán)皮書。
報(bào)告中說(shuō)，目前全國(guó)農(nóng)村的貧困人口達(dá)2600萬(wàn)，城鎮(zhèn)居民中處于最低保障線（貧困線）以下的人口達(dá)到2200萬(wàn)。兩者總計(jì)共4800萬(wàn)人，占我國(guó)總?cè)丝诘?.7％。
貧困人口的國(guó)際標(biāo)準(zhǔn)即每人每日平均支出不足1美元。
據(jù)世界銀行統(tǒng)計(jì)，目前我國(guó)約有1億3千5百萬(wàn)人生活在國(guó)際貧困線以下。因此，解決貧困問(wèn)題應(yīng)成為我國(guó)建設(shè)全面小康社會(huì)的重點(diǎn)。
